AKA Design Refit Dean Street Studios with state of the art Mastering Furniture
AKA Design have just completed a studio refit in central London, they designed, built and installed the mastering furniture for the iconic Dean Street Studios.
Guy Wilson of AKA Design told this publication. “It was our great pleasure to design, build and install the custom mastering furniture for the iconic Dean Street Studios. This was the last part of a two year refit and upgrade, with new Dolby Atmos studios, Post rooms, Live rooms and Mastering studio.
It is one of the last central London studios situated in the heart of Soho, and has been a music production space since the 1950’s. It was then called Zodiac Studios until Tony Visconti purchased it in the mid 70’s and renamed it Good Earth Studios. Over the years it has attracted some of the biggest artists in the industry such as Bowie, T Rex and Pink Floyd, and more recently Adele, Kaizer Chiefs and Noel Gallagher.
In 2007 it was purchased by Suzanne Lee-Barnes and her daughter Jasmin Lee, who have transformed this legendary space into a modern state of the art studio, whilst retaining its rock and roll history with the fully graffitied entrance hall. The studio build and acoustic design is by Veale Associates Limited, with PMC – The Professional Monitor Company Ltd. supplying the monitors for the mastering room with an Avid S1 & dock at the helm.
AKA Design would like to wish Suzanne, Jasmin and new chief mastering engineer Mazen Murad every success.”
